Perusing Pinterest

This week I did some fun stuff on Pinterest---I already have a Pinterest account with boards on topics ranging from Disney Princesses (!) to winter homes, but have been inspired to update a couple of these boards as well as to create a couple of new ones. I also decided to follow the Cheshire, Connecticut Public Library partly because it had a lot of pins (over 5000), but also because these pins were very varied in nature and contained a lot of "quotable quotes" which I quite like. :)

Words and Pics

Am trying this week's challenge, and finding it fairly interesting. The word generator looks kind of cool, but I'm generally not a very visually motivated individual (prefer Blackberrys to I-phones, etc. !), so this is kind of foreign territory for me. I am a member of Pinterest, though!

The art of reading

Finished joining http://www.goodreads.com/, and was just thinking about an experience I had recently when I went to Second Cup. I had gone there specifically to read a book and get one of their great lattes, and was just about to take a sip and dive into my book when I took a moment to look around. Some people were there with others, enjoying coffee and conversation, but I noticed that an awful lot of people were there alone. The thing they had in common with me is that they were all reading, but of everyone there, I was the only one reading an actual, old-fashioned paper & print book. Most were on a computer, a few perusing e-readers; still, I couldn’t help but thinking, as I settled back to enjoy my good read that they really didn’t know what they were missing! All the new technologies have their advantages, and I have availed myself of some of them, but for me nothing compares to the feeling you get when you settle into a good book (old-school, of course! J).
