Lots of libraries

I thought I’d follow Calgary Public Library on Twitter as it brings back fond memories. I’ve always been intrigued by library layouts and designs, just the physical space, and I remember living in Calgary in the 80’s and exploring virtually each and every library in the city! I loved going to a different library and just seeing what they had to offer, checking out the atmosphere, etc. I soon discovered that libraries are very much like people (or animals!) in that they each have their own distinct personality.

Foiled again!

Well, I got the silver pen, but unfortunately, it is not the perfect silver pen as it is not made in the Sharpie style (which I really like). It's a marker pen that needs to be shaken before use. It appears that it will work pretty well, although I seem to remember dealing with the same type of pen before and finding that they leaked. However, for now it will do. In the meantime, however, the quest continues!

My quest for the perfect silver pen

Ok, I've been thinking about it, and have determined that it is sometimes the minutiae of an existence that contributes to its meaning. For instance, my quest for the perfect silver pen. This began when I started processing a lot of AV materials. I soon discovered that I don't like the finepoint Sharpies that we have to work with as they are not really fine at all, but rather smudgy (as far as I'm concerned, anyways!). So, I got myself a couple of black Sharpies that were ultra-fine, and found they worked nicely; very legible, and enabled the user to write more clearly and distinctly. So far, so good. But the problem was finding an indelible silver pen with an ultra-fine tip for the darker discs.
Somehow, I just wasn't able to find one anywhere! Until just before Christmas, when, lo and behold, I spotted one at Walmart, of all places. I didn't grab it then as I had my mind firmly set on Christmas shopping, but made a mental note to return once the holidays were past and pick one up. So, hopefully when I venture out this evening I will find it once more, and it will be just what I'm looking for---time will tell.
